At Fulbrook we take our pupils’ pastoral care very seriously and our pastoral system; all of the children are known as individuals, are cared for and encouraged to succeed. This is evident in our strong links with the Lower and Upper Schools within our pyramid. We have dedicated staff responsible for the transition of students from Year 4 into Year 5 and Year 8 into Year 9.
Pastoral responsibility for pupils generally falls, in the first instance, to form tutors. However, some pupils need further support, which can be found with our Pastoral Support Co-ordinator, Mrs Jane Nicholls. She generally works with pupils on a one-to-one basis or facilitates small group work to resolve specific problems. Her role is to support children who may be experiencing emotional difficulties and, as such, she works closely with pupils, parents and any outside agencies, which may be involved with our families. At times, she works individually with a pupil as a learning mentor, or just as someone with whom our pupils can talk as the need arises.
Should the support required for specific pupils be of a more specialist nature, we have a School Counsellor, who provides a ‘Talktime’ counselling service through Relate, and is available in school for two hours per week. We also have a school nurse who is in school during lunchtimes once a week, offering a drop-in service.
Below are some links, signposting agencies/websites which we feel may be of further support to our parents/families.
